Beat the heat with the Sony Reon Pocket
The wearable aircon device by Sony is now available for purchase after launching its crowdfunding campaign last year. The portable device is a small cooling gadget designed by Sony which you can mount it on the back pocket of a specially-made T-shirt.
The Reon Pocket is perfect for the hot and humid weather in Singapore. It is said to be able to lower the body temperature of the person who wore it by 13°C (i.e. from 36°C to 23°C), as well as the ability to heat up by 8.3°C. The ability to heat up the body temperature means it can also be used when you travel to a country with cold weather.
Portable cooling (and warming) device
The device is used by attaching it to the back pocket of a dedicated innerwear. According to Gizmochina, it can be charged via a USB-C port and a single charge allows for 2-hour of use.
Dedicated mobile app
A dedicated app allows you to adjust the temperature from warm to cool and vice versa. It comes with three functions (auto mode, my mode, quick start) that can be selected with a touch of a button. Auto mode detects your body’s temperature and condition and automatically adjusts to an appropriate temperature.
Specially designed T-shirt
The exclusive innerwear with back pouch can be purchased separately for ¥1,980 (~$25) inclusive of tax, and comes in two colours: white and beige. The T-shirt is made of polyester fabric that absorbs water quickly, making it soft and comfortable to wear.
