Is this worth it?

Paying $20 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB is definitely worth it but what if you bundled it with a 2-year plan from StarHub?

You get 60GB of data, 600 minutes, 600SMS and other perks such as free 12month Starhub TV+, Caller Number Display and more.

To see if this deal is worth it, you’d want to compare how much StarHub has charged for the iPhone 11 Pro Max when you sign a 2-year contract with them.

Here’s the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s pricing table from hardwarezone.com.sg when it was first launched:

Table via hardwarezone.com.sg

As you can see, $95/month is somewhere between the $75/month and $105/month plans. The $95/month plan consists of 60GB data, 600 minutes and 600 SMS so you are not being shortchanged here.

But look, now you are just paying a one-time fee of $20 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max (64GB) instead of $770. This is really a good deal as you’d have to fork out $953 for the handset if you sign up for the $75/month plan on other days. (or $704 for the handset if you sign up for the $105/month plan)

Doing the maths

How much do you have to pay in total if you go ahead and sign up for the plan?

  • $95 per month for 24 months = $95 * 24 = $2,280
  • $20 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB
  • Total: $2,300

If you get the handset directly from Apple, it will cost you $1,799.

Now, let’s work backwards.

  • $2,300 – $1,799 = $501
  • $501/24 = $20.88/month

So you are paying $501 or $20.88/month for a 2-year contract with StarHub.

For 60GB of data, 600 minutes, 600SMS and all the other perks, you pay just $20.88 a month. Totally worth it.
