This National Day, Singapore’s very own iconic dim sum restaurant, 58 years old Swee Choon has come up with 2 special dishes to celebrate! To honour Singapore’s birthday, Swee Choon’s signature dim sum has been given a local twist – discover new delight Mee Suah Kueh with Chili Crab Sauce (2 for $5). Chilli Crab is the king of all crab dishes, and one of Singapore’s greatest culinary inventions. Swee Choon’s version is to pair two heritage dishes and create their very own special local dish. Wheat vermicelli is first stir-fried with dried shrimps and Chinese sausage, set in a mould, then deep fried until golden brown, resulting in a kueh that is crispy on the outside, while soft and flavourful within. Using in-house Chilli Crab paste, generous chunks of freshly-peeled crab meat are fried with other condiments, resulting in a moreish chilli crab sauce that is sweet and spicy. The sauce is then drizzled over the mee suah kueh, creating a savoury dish that makes for a supremely satisfying experience.

Another new addition to the National Day menu is the Lava Bun with Chilli Crab Filling (3 for $8). The bun is reminiscent of the fried mantous that usually accompany Singapore’s Chilli Crab dish. The exterior of the bun is crispy, with a fluffy interior. Take a bite and watch the chunky chilli crab sauce ooze out. The sauce is made using Swee Choon’s in-house secret Chilli Crab Sauce recipe.
