Oriental Kopi Is Bringing Taro Egg Tarts & Buttery Taro Polo Buns To Singapore — Only Till 30 November!

Taro lovers, there are two new reasons to make a trip to Oriental Kopi. The Malaysian kopitiam brand is bringing its Taro Egg Tart and Taro Polo Bun to Singapore, giving two of its signature bakes a creamy taro twist. But these seasonal treats won’t be sticking around — both are available until 30 November 2026.

Made with Taiwanese Dajia taro, known for its creamy texture and sweet, nutty flavour, the duo puts taro front and centre. Think flaky pastry filled with taro and egg custard, plus a warm polo bun stuffed with taro paste and a thick slab of chilled butter.

A $3 Taro Egg Tart With 128 Layers Of Flaky Pastry

Oriental Kopi’s signature egg tart gets a purple makeover with the Taro Egg Tart, priced at $3 per piece with a minimum order of two pieces.

Each tart features creamy Dajia taro paste beneath tender egg custard, all tucked into a purple, 128-layer flaky taro pastry made with French butter. That means crisp, buttery layers on the outside and two soft fillings within, bringing together earthy taro sweetness and rich egg custard in every bite.

For fans of the original, this seasonal version gives the familiar favourite a tempting new flavour.

Warm Taro Polo Bun Meets Thick, Chilled Butter

Prefer something soft and buttery? The Taro Polo Bun ($5.80) pairs a warm, soft bun with smooth taro paste and a generous slab of chilled butter.

As the butter softens into the filling, its lightly salty richness complements the sweet taro. It’s the hot-and-cold combination that makes a butter-filled polo bun so satisfying, now with an extra layer of creamy taro goodness.

Four New Ayam Masak Merah Mains Join The Menu

There’s more than a pastry stop to plan here. Oriental Kopi is also adding four Ayam Masak Merah dishes to its permanent menu, pairing rich, spicy-sweet chicken with familiar rice and noodle favourites:

  • Nasi Briyani Ayam Masak Merah — $11.60
  • Nasi Lemak Ayam Masak Merah — $11.60
  • Mee Siam Ayam Masak Merah — $12.30
  • Kampung Mee Hoon Ayam Masak Merah — $12.30

Whether the craving calls for fragrant rice or a comforting plate of noodles, there’s a new combination to work into the next lunch or dinner visit.

Two Sweet-Tangy Drinks To Complete The Meal

Round things off with the Passion Fruit Sour Plum ($6.90), which combines tropical passion fruit with tangy sour plum, or the Lychee Sour Plum ($6.90) for floral sweetness balanced by a tart finish.

Like the taro pastries, both drinks are available only until 30 November 2026.

A hearty Malaysian-style main, a buttery taro bun and a flaky taro egg tart for dessert? That’s plenty of reason to arrive hungry. Just make that taro date before the seasonal treats leave the menu.
