Food blogger shows you how to make Xing Fu Tang’s Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk at home

If you are a big fan of Xing Fu Tang’s Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk, here’s a recipe to try at home.

Indonesian food blogger, Mrs Cuilinary, has shared the Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk recipe on her website and it has been a hit. According to the reviews, it tastes almost similar to the real deal.

Ingredients to make Boba (Servings for 2 people):

  • Brown sugar 30gm
  • Tapioca flour 50gm
  • Water 50ml

Steps to make the Boba dough:

  1. Brown brown sugar and water with medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved and water boils
  2. When boiling, turn off the flame and add the flour while stirring until there is no more flour remaining
  3. Sprinkle and cover the table surface with tapioca flour, then transfer the dough onto it
  4.  Knead the dough (it should be warm) and thoroughly roll into an elongated shape (until stretchable and smooth)
  5. Shape into a flat dough
  6. Cut the dough into square shape 1cm x 1cm
  7. Roll them in between your palms into a round shape

Steps to cook the Boba:

  1. Add the pearls into boiling water
  2. Sir to prevent sticking
  3. After 5 minutes, the Boba should ‘float’. Leave it and cook for additional 15 minutes with occasional stirrings
  4. There should be a clear layer around the Boba once it is fully cooked
  5. Off the fire and cover for 15 minutes
  6. Drain the cooked Boba

Steps to make Brown Sugar syrup:

  1. Add 150ml water and 50g brown sugar in a pot, dissolve the sugar and bring to boil
  2. After it has a sticky consistency, add the Boba into the mix
  3. Final steps: Add 50g brown sugar in a pot, add the brown sugar boba and stir them

Serving instructions:

  1. Spread the brown sugar syrup at the edge of a cup
  2. Add boba, ice, fresh milk and heavy cream
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar on the surface and serve
