Dealing With Smartphone Problems

We now live a very fast-paced life where everyone is constantly on the move. From the moment we wake up and leave our beds, we are up and running about trying to make it through different responsibilities and chores until the end of the day till we are finally back home. A lot of us happen to enjoy this fast pace and it can make for a great life. Of course, we need a device that complements our active and fast lifestyle, hence why smartphones are now considered to be a constant companion for us.

Smartphones contain everything that we need to stay connected to the world and get things done. We can use the internet on it, call, message, and connect with other people, use social media, play games, read, check our emails, and do many other things. We have become so heavily reliant on the smartphones that we end up having to check our phones after every few minutes, even when we have not gotten any notification. This dependence on our devices has been considered as alarming by many experts.

Now, our smartphones are manmade at the end of the day, so it is not designed to last forever. The entire point of a smartphone is to buy the latest model and to use it for a year or two until we end up upgrading to a newer model. Of course, our smartphone is not exempt from developing problems, and if anything, issues with smartphones can end up costing a lot of money if you do not act fast enough. This is why we are going to talk about some common problems that smartphone users tend to face with their phones, and you can then decide whether or not you want to opt for a repair or a replacement entirely. You can always look up phone repair Singapore to get a list of shops that you can go to in case you do find yourself in need of professional repair services.

Battery Life

Batteries are considered to be a controversial subject amongst smartphone users because we all understand that our phone batteries will eventually become problematic. Each battery has a charge cycle limit, and once the limit of the number of full charge cycles has been passed, then your average battery life slowly starts decreasing. So, you might find yourself having to charge your phone twice or thrice a day at first, but then you will start noticing that your battery runs out even more quickly. This is a problem for any phone user.

You can always try to help save battery and optimize your battery usage yourself at first, and if that does not work, then the problem lies in your battery. If a battery replacement is possible, we suggest opting for one provided your phone does not have other serious problems as well. However, if your battery cannot be replaced and/or your phone has other serious issues as well, then you should get the phone replaced entirely.

Processing Speed

Smartphones are designed to respond quickly. So, they are supposed to recognize a command immediately and then respond in a similar fashion. Issues with your phone’s processing speed can manifest in several different ways including:

  • Taking time to switch between applications.
  • Taking time to recognize the letters or numbers you might be typing on the screen.
  • Hanging or glitching when you are using your phone.
  • Overall slow response time and lags.

This issue with the processing speed could be a result of several things including malware, software issues, and hardware issues. If you are having trouble identifying what might be causing these problems, it is recommended that you take your phone to the repair store and have the expert examine it and let you know what might be causing the problem.

Screen Problems

The touch screen is part of what made smartphones popular in the first place. So, if you are experiencing issues with your touch screen, then you might be dealing with a possibly serious problem. Many different problems are related to your phone’s touch screen and these can include:

  • Your touch screen not responding properly after serious fall damage, or for no reason.
  • Reduced visibility on your screen because of cracks that might have been caused by fall damage.
  • Slow response time because your touch screen is not able to recognize your touch or understand the commands that you might be entering in it.
  • Lags while you are inputting touch commands.

These issues can be caused by many things including manufacturer’s faults, fall damage, processing issues, and general touch sensitivity issues. If you are not sure as to what might be causing the problem, you can have the problem examined by a professional and have them let you know, and if possible, fix the problem.

Introducing Samsung’s First Glass-Screen Folding Phone

As I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I got fascinated with how the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Flip looks like. It reminded me of my old Nintendo Advance SP. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the bygone SP, it is a handheld game console that can fit inside your pocket. Imagine having a smartphone that you can fold inside your pocket!

Introducing Samsung’s first glass-screen folding phone called Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. You read that right. Its glass display is its biggest selling point! This smartphone is made from Samsung Ultra Thin Glass, which “sets you up for an epic view with a smooth flat screen”. Other folding phones in the market such as Huawei Mate X and Samsung Galaxy Fold have used plastic displays. Hence, the Z Flip feels more premium and fragile as compared to its predecessors. It is a full-screen smartphone that fits in your pocket!

Its 6.7-inch display collapses into half, which will turn any heads whenever you use it. Aside from its physical attributes, another headturner is its unbelievable price. It carries an expensive price tag of $55.50/month for 36 months or $1,998.00 for a 256 GB unit. You may also get it from Samsung’s partner merchants such as Singtel. Singtel’s Combo 2 allows you to get the Z Flip for a monthly fee of $42.90 or Combo 6 for $99.90 per month. These combos are tied to distinct Singtel plans.

It costs more than the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus. Would you believe that it easily sold out throughout the world despite its hefty price? Well, it is true!

Another battle with the manufacturing of the Galaxy Z Flip is the ongoing prevalence of the Coronavirus-19. Just weeks after the unveiling of the Z Flip, Samsung had to shutdown their plant in South Korea after an employee tested positive of the illness. COVID-19’s widespread is taking a toll on the global technology industry and other businesses who are heavily reliant on the Asian supply chain. Disruptions in manufacturing and limitations in travel impedes the success of the current technological scene. The same challenge is felt by the Apple company.

Apple said that it is likely to miss the quarterly revenue guidance due to the COVID-19, which affects the Chinese consumers and the production capabilities inside China. These are unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances that Samsung, Apple, and other businesses have to deal with these days.

Here is to hoping that we could all gradually recover soon!

5 Telltale Signs That You Need To Change Your Phone

As my iPhone slipped from my hands, it quickly tumbled to the ground with its screen falling first. Before I grabbed it, I was so complacent that only the tempered glass was shattered. The people who witnessed the scene were so shocked and even screamed on my behalf. I kept my cool. I told them that everything is under control as it had a protective layer. Oh, I was wrong! The entire glass screen cracked from the inside out.

Three days passed and I have decided to upgrade my phone. I saw it as an opportunity to finally purchasing a new one after three years. I may get accustomed to the smashed display of the spiderweb-like pattern across the screen, but using this is hazardous. I might be cut by the broken glass or cause the cracks to worsen.

Having a smashed screen is one reason to change your phone. Keep in mind that upgrading can set you back for more than S$1000. So, contemplate on whether it is necessary to buy a new phone or not.

THINGS ARE GETTING SLOW

In this day and age, phones that can multitask reign supreme. If your phone cannot keep up with your taps and swipes, perhaps you should get a new one. It is hard to function when your phone responds to some commands while ignores the rest. Consider looking for a phone that listens to your every touch.

BATTERIES ARE EASY TO DRAIN

How would you feel if your fully charged phone does not last you until lunchtime? You have enough on your plate and rescheduling a recharge can just stretch your tasks.

If you are noticing that your phone is draining at a faster rate after fully charging it, it may be time to replace its battery. Remember that smartphone batteries lose capacity every time you charge it from zero to one-hundred percent. Charging it incorrectly can quicken the process of deterioration.

SHUTTING DOWN IS COMMON

As I was sitting in the lobby, my friend asked me for a favor. She wanted me to call her phone that randomly turned off. To my surprise, it rang while the entire screen transformed to pitch-black. Random shutdowns is worse that running out of battery. If your phone refuses to turn back on until it dictates so, it is time to purchase a new phone.

YOUR STORAGE IS FULL

Despite adding a memory card, your current phone still runs out of storage space. You noticed that small, low-resolution photos can accumulate and hold a chunk of your phone’s memory. What’s more? Your photos look like they were shot in the yesteryear. Stop collecting grainy and low-resolution moments! Start saving your space for crisp and high-resolution memories by getting a new phone.

NEW OPERATING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE

Take a moment to think about whether you can download the latest apps and operating systems. One of the primary reasons why you must convert to a new phone is to equip yourself with current software updates.

Always update your phone to the latest operating system available for security purposes. Latest updates often fix flaws in older systems that leave your data vulnerable to cyberattacks and hackers.
