Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, introducing a variable-aperture camera, the new A20 Pro chip, longer battery life and expanded AI capabilities through iOS 27.
Available in black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy finish, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at S$1,899, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at S$2,099.
Pre-orders in Singapore will open on 12 September 2026, 8PM SGT with availability beginning on 18 September 2026.
iPhone 18 Pro will be available in four elegant finishes: black, silver, glacier, and burgundy.
A new variable-aperture camera
The headline upgrade is a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, marking the first time Apple has introduced aperture control on an iPhone.
The camera uses six laser-cut blades to move smoothly between different apertures, automatically adjusting the depth of field and amount of light entering the lens. Apple says this should improve low-light images, retain more detail across group photographs and give users greater control over the appearance of their shots.

Professional users can manually select from four aperture settings in the Camera app. Apple is also introducing a new Pro controls interface that provides direct access to aperture, shutter speed and white balance settings, together with a histogram for monitoring exposure.
An upgraded computational imaging pipeline promises sharper photographs, while Photographic Styles gains additional controls for texture and grain.
Video recording has also been expanded. Cinematic effects can now be applied after recording to footage captured at up to 60 frames per second, while Time-lapse mode supports recording in 4K Dolby Vision HDR. Updated Audio Mix algorithms can enhance voices or isolate music within a recording.
Apple Reference Image tackles edited and AI-generated photos
Apple Reference Image provides users with an unalterable reference photo, visually confirming what the sensor saw at the moment of capture.
The iPhone 18 Pro series introduces Apple Reference Image, a new authenticity feature designed to help users verify what the camera originally captured.
When a photograph is taken in Reference mode, the Main camera signs the sensor data at the time of capture. Private Cloud Compute then produces an unalterable reference image that can be viewed alongside the edited photograph in the Photos app.
The feature works like a digital negative, allowing users to compare the original sensor information with the finished image and identify potential changes. Apple is also adding APIs for third-party apps, while image metadata and upcoming SynthID support will help identify content that has been created or modified using AI.
A20 Pro delivers a major performance upgrade
Featuring a new 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and Dual 16-core Neural Engine, A20 Pro is a powerhouse for pro performance.
Both phones are powered by the new A20 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2-nanometre process.
The chip features a six-core CPU, a new seven-core GPU and 50% more memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro. Apple says graphics performance is up to 40% faster, supporting more demanding games, computational photography and on-device AI workloads.
A Dual 16-core Neural Engine provides 32 cores in total, delivering twice the AI processing power of the previous generation.
Apple has paired the processor with a redesigned vapour chamber featuring three times the surface area of the system used in the iPhone 17 Pro. Together with changes to the chip packaging, the new thermal system is said to deliver up to 40% higher sustained performance.
Wireless connectivity is handled by Apple’s N1 networking chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. The new C2 cellular modem offers faster uploads than C1X while consuming 15% less energy.
Longer battery life and faster charging
Both iPhone 18 Pro models feature updated battery designs that support faster wired charging and leverage powerful silicon efficiencies to deliver incredible battery life.
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro delivers up to 34 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max extends this to 43 hours.
The iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes with a wired charger or 30 minutes through wireless charging.
On the Pro Max, five minutes of wired charging provides around seven hours of video playback. Based on Apple’s updated real-world battery usage model, the larger phone can deliver up to 29 hours of use on a full charge.
Siri AI arrives with iOS 27
The new phones will ship with iOS 27, featuring Apple Intelligence and the beta release of Siri AI.
The redesigned assistant can use personal context from messages, emails, photographs and other apps to help users find information and complete tasks. Onscreen awareness allows Siri to respond to content currently displayed, while a new Siri mode in the Camera app can provide information about objects and places in front of the user.
Other Apple Intelligence additions include Spatial Reframing, Extend and improved Clean Up tools for photographs, photorealistic image generation in Image Playground and a Safari feature that can monitor webpages for changes such as restocks or price reductions.
Apple says these features use a combination of on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute to protect user information.
iOS 27 will be released as a free software update on 14 September 2026. Siri AI will begin rolling out in beta on the same day with support for English, including English (Singapore).
