If you are not aware, Din Tai Fung has opened its first outlet at City Square, Johor Bahru a few months ago. What this means is that we can now cross the border and enjoy the food at Din Tai Fung at a much cheaper price due to the favourable exchange rate!
Awarded one Michelin Star and ranked as one of the world’s Top Ten Best Restaurants by The New York Times, this celebrated restaurant is famous for its xiao long baos (Steamed Pork Dumplings) with 18 intricate folds, and Steamed Chicken Soup.
Prices are in Malaysian Ringgits and cost about 30-40% lesser as compared to Singapore. For example, their famous Pork Xiao Long Bao costs about RM13.20/6pcs or RM21.00/10pcs. That is equivalent to about S$4.19 or S$6.67 respectively based on current exchange rate.
The Pork Chop Fried Rice costs about RM 22.00 (S$7). In Singapore, you’d have to pay around $10 – $11 for the same plate of fried rice.
