Ladies, here’s how to start gymming without spending money on a personal trainer

It’s almost time for New Year’s resolutions, isn’t it? 😛

And for some, maybe it’s the desire to start shaping up.

But if you have ZERO idea of gymming and ZERO budget to hire a personal trainer, let me help.

You see, I’m slightly over 1.5 years into my gym era now, and I started as a noob, knowing nothing much about gymming.

While I’ve had my fair share of going to the gym in my 10s (following friends) and early 20s (I joined a women’s circuit training program), my body remembered nothing much.

So imagine me feeling so stupid when I stepped into the weight training zone again after 10 years because I knew nothing much about those scary-looking machines.

Plus, it’s a pretty guy-dominant area so you ladies might be feeling a little small and self-conscious.

Well, at least it was for me when I first started back in April 2024.

But actually, they don’t have to be that scary of an experience.

I went with my partner when I first started gymming but he pretty much left me alone to die ☠️

LOL, that mean guy.

So I knew I had to do my research if I didn’t want to pay for a personal trainer.

#NoMoneyAlso 😂

Anyway, I watched quite a bit of Naomi Kong’s videos when I first started out.

I started gymming without splitting my workouts but since I’m hitting the gym daily now, I’ve learned to split them into upper body and lower body.

As such, I recommend these two for a start:

Upper Body Machines

Lower Body Machines

Obviously, the gym you go to won’t have the exact machine, and the adjustable knobs might be in different positions, but it’s still very helpful for a newbie.

Once you get the hang of how to use the gym machines, you can start “leveling up” by learning how to use free weights.

Honestly, the gym machines are always hogged up compared to the free weights area because most average people pay to use the facilities, right?

So as you wait for your turn to use the machines, why not go to the dumbbells and complete a quick set of 3 x 10?

I do that often so I don’t waste any precious time.

And if the machine I wanna use gets occupied by some machine-hogging-phone-looking-addict for an hour, I know I can still complete the day’s training by using free weights.

Here’s one to follow if you want to train your upper body using dumbbells:

Of course, I could go on and on because there’s so much more to learn but I don’t want to overwhelm you as a beginner.

So why not start with those videos I’ve recommended to you earlier on?

You could also do your own YouTube search with keywords like “upper body workouts” and “lower body workouts” to explore further.

The YouTube algorithm is impressive so you will be suggested more related videos to support your gym routine without spending money on a personal trainer 😉

Now, skip the treadmill and go slay it, girl 💪
